Top U.S. sprinter disqualified just before 2020 Olympics
The U.S. national track and field team is in trouble again because of an anti-doping rule violation. Sprinter Sha’Curry Richardson could miss the Olympics because she tested positive.
Sha’Curry tested positive for doping on June 19, during national selection for the Olympics. As it became known, there were traces of cannabis in her sample.
Richardson is one of the strongest track and field athletes in the United States and the best sprinter on the national team. At the event, where Sha’Curry gave the unfortunate sample, she won gold in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.86 seconds. Earlier in the season, Richardson ran 10.72 to place among the six-fastest women’s sprinters in track and field history.
The 21-year-old athlete not only shows impressive sports results, but also stands out for her unusual for female athletes image: she does her bright hairstyle and amazing for an athlete manicure. Her Instagram profile has 1.8 million followers.
Sha’Karri Richardson was one of the main contenders for Olympic gold, but will the Americans take her to the team after such a serious scandal?
